Re: Oooooh Billy Billy
I can remember an incident from one of his early home matches when he was forming (ironically, as things turned out) a great playing relationship with Harry Redknapp on the right wing. Bill brought the ball forward from right back to around the centre circle and I could see the faces of opposing players go pale as they backed off him. They didn't dare tackle him, it was something to do with his ungainly but powerful running style. As he got nearer their penalty area he attracted about 3 defenders towards him. Harry had been tracking up the wing and Bill slipped the ball to him at the last minute. Harry was away and crossed for someone (Peters I think) to score with a header. I still remember the fear in those players' faces.

Thoroughly deserves to ave his monicker permanently inked on the Westfield Bowl. Especially for the next lot coming through.
One of our all time greats. A true leader.

The irony of one of the most cringeworthy posters finding this cringeworthy is oddly pleasing.

I also agree that Hairy is a blowing bubbles out of his snozz emotional wreck... however... yeah it's a nice touch regarding the stand... I just wonder if he has changed his mind now?? You know about it being not suitable for football??

IT's all a bit cringeworthy to be honest.

Almost as bad as the crossed hammers sign.

What a fucking wanker this fella is?

Obviously a new teenage fuckin idiot.

Re: Oooooh Billy Billy
How the fuck is it cringeworthy to name a stand of a football ground after a very good footballer? (Even if it's not a very good football ground)

A very nice touch.A fitting tribute to a West Ham legend.
Quite how this gesture can be described as "cringeworthy " beggars belief.

The very least that a two time FA cup winning captain and longest serving player deserves.
Billy is obviously an absolute legend but also easily the best buy the club has ever made.
I remember that back in '67 there were rumours we were looking to put a bid in to Charlton for him so my Dad took me and my brother to the Valley to watch them play Coventry. Couldn't wait to see him in C&B after watching him that day.

HH - I feel the same. 10th May 1980 is the best day of my life, still get emotional when seeing anything from that sunny day.

Lovely bit of news this.

Get him a statue as well. Bet Bonzo would have preferred it to be at Upton Park.

Re: Oooooh Billy Billy
Emotions happen I have no difficulty in filling up for someone I have a great deal of love for, when I see Billy Bonds Nostalgia takes over I see him lifting the FA cup aloft at a time when most of the kids at my school supported Arsenal/Tottenham or Liverpool and would laugh at me for being a Hammer and I see him giving his all covering every blade of the pitch tackling with great precision sometimes not .

You do not get many Billy Bonds they are very rare I am not made up I don't lie If I shed a few tears I did why would I admit to something like that if I did not ?.
